Washer and Dryer ComboA washer and dryer combo is a washing machine and dryer all in one unit.
They have been extremely popular in Europe and Asia for quite some time. They are finally catching
on here in the states and for good reason. It washes and dry’s your clothing in the same drum. For this
reason it makes these units perfect for anyone that lives in a place with limited space, businesses and
RV’s.
Every washer and dryer combo is front loading. This is a great feature that we love, here’s why.
Front loaders are more energy efficient and they require less water. Secondly they are able to expunge more
water because they can spin at a much higher rate during the spin cycle.
You have two options with washer and
dryer combo. You can either go with the vented or the non vented. The vented version works just like a regular
clothes dryer. Through coils in the machine it heats the air and basically cooks the clothes dry. The hot moist
air is blown outside through a vent. The non-vented again works the same way but with less heat. It uses a water
condenser that traps the moisture in the air and drains the water into the same pipes the washer
uses.
The other big benefit of these machines is that they run of your standard 110/120 voltage. Every
clothes dryer will require 220 voltage.
But before run out and buy a washer and dryer combo here are some simple tips
to help you in your quest.
Do your research. This is a big purchase and the last thing you want to is to buy something that you
hate, does not work, or does not work in the manner it is supposed to. Through our research there are
definitely some pros and cons.
The biggest complaint with the non-vented was the amount of time that it took to dry the clothes.
The second biggest complaint was the noise from these machines. We even saw some complaints that the
non-vented version could only dry half of what was washed. So again do some research before you
buy.
